ARTERIAL DOPPLER

Oviedo Family Medical Center a CLSC clinic Arterial Doppler test is an ultrasound that will examine your arterial blood flow toward the lower extremities (legs) and upper extremities (arms). This study is performed to discover any reduced or blocked blood flow in the major arteries of the legs and arms.
It is primarily used to examine:

  • Tingling sensations and numbness in the arms, hands, legs and feet.
  • Sensations of heaviness and fatigue in the legs and arms.

Arterial Doppler scans use reflected sound waves to examine how the blood flows through the blood vessels. It is a non-invasive test that is employed for measuring blood pressure and circulation by bouncing high-frequency waves of sound or “ultrasound” off of circulating red blood cells.
